The County Fair
On Thursday and Friday my Cousins, Grandparents, and I all participated in the Weber County Fair. This is something we all look forward to doing every year. We had a great time and did pretty well, showing halter and driving my Grandparents Haflinger horses. On Thursday we did all our halter classes. We did great. My Grandma and Grandpa showed a foal, a yearling, a gelding and one of our stallions, Wunder Kid or Willie. As always Willie took supreme halter champ. Go Willie. After all the the regular classes we had the kid classes. After a little incident with the filly and my cousin, Bronson, they all made it in the arena OK. Whitney took first. Way to go Whit!!! My class was next, I showed Nambia, a chocolate gelding that I have been working with this summer. We took 2end. Thatcher took 1st. Way to go!! I won a 1st in the showmanship class(the other class was exhibitor.) Friday was hitches. We were in every class that day!! We had to share the arena with the bigger drafts, so they did a class then we did a class. First we did single driving. In all the classes I was in, I was up against girls who older than me. I drove single with Daisy and took 3rd. Grandma was the only one to take 1st in driving single. Next was driving a team of two. I took 1st!! I was so nervous and after, excited. In my class we had to do a figure eight and then make our front wheels go around the cone and turn sharp enough to have the cone go between the the two back wheels! It was a little confusing at first but I did it and I was the first won to do it with out making a mistake! After driving the team, we quickly hitched up 4 a breast(4 across), then 4 up(2 in back & 2 in front), then unicorn(2 in back, 1 in front) Grandma & Grandpa placed 2 & 3 in those classes. Daisy is the leader in the hitches and she was a bit uncooperative. We finally finshed and went to get a hard earned lunch. I slept and was still tired from all the excitment until at least sunday!! I hope that everyone else got some much deserved rest. The one funny thing about this year was that the judge was Nic Barney our 2end cousin's husband. I'm sure that it was hard from him to judge, but he did a good job. THANK YOU, GRANDMA, GRANDPA & FOR ALL THOSE WHO HELPED WITH LUNCH AND EVERYTHING ELSE:)
